SINGAPORE – Staying true to his lifelong dedication to helping those in need, Mr Dilip Babu, the CEO of Info-Tech Systems Integrators and AI-powered job portal JobsLah.com, generously donated $250,000 from his personal funds to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (STSPMF) to support children from low-income families. This donation provides financial assistance for their educational fees, covering out-of-pocket expenses such as meals, transportation costs, and other schooling needs.
Mr Babu is no stranger to philanthropic endeavours. In 2022, he first donated $100,000 after learning from his son, Arjun, about how STSPMF helps schoolchildren in need with their school-related expenses, as well as their social and educational development. He shared, “My son, a student at St Andrew’s Secondary School, shared with me that STSPMF extends financial support to eligible students for their daily canteen expenses. This deeply touched my heart. I have no doubt that every dollar I donate to STSPMF directly benefits the students who truly need it.”
He added, “No one should be deprived of good-quality education due to financial constraints.” Mr Babu’s wife Ramya, 42; daughters Srinithi, 19, and Harini, 15; and Arjun, 14, were also present at the cheque presentation ceremony. Jaime Ho, Fund Chairman and Editor of The Straits Times, expressed his appreciation, stating that it is “heartening to have advocates like Mr Babu, who aspire to be role models and inspire the next generation to look out for those in need”.
Mr Babu stated, “What I’ve earned, I’ve earned right here, and what I give is taken from this very source. I entered this world with empty hands, and I’ll exit it the same way. I have been blessed with good health and wisdom, and Singapore’s system has provided me with opportunities to build a prosperous life. Therefore, it is my duty to give back to society, and the best way is through education. I’m profoundly grateful to STSPMF for providing me with the opportunity to support the education of underprivileged schoolchildren”.
